Two context figures keep the premium in proportion. Per square foot, the premium is easier to argue about. The $13,461 heated build is $33.65 per sq ft of the 400 sq ft driveway against $20 per sq ft for the unheated slab. Full coverage costs five times as much to run as tire tracks on the same slab - $288 a season against $57.60 - and it will not fit most residential services under the 40%-of-panel rule, which the electrical load article walks through. If the number of plowable storms where you are differs from the calculator's default of 10, scale linearly: the seasonal figure is directly proportional to storm count.

The year-12 cliff is what settles the argument
